Why ANURAVA exists
Intentionally crafted sound, brought into everyday life.
A handmade instrument cannot be understood by its diameter or its photograph alone. Its response develops through material, proportion, hammering, rim formation and the way the finished form moves when it is played. We make instruments that reward listening — and we describe them honestly.

Crafted by hand
Cast, heated, raised through repeated hammering, trued and finished on the anvil. The hand that shaped the bowl is legible in the finished surface.

Individually heard
Every finished instrument is struck and rim-played before it is accepted. A bowl that does not speak well does not leave the workshop.

Precisely measured
Diameter, height, weight and rim thickness are taken from the actual piece rather than quoted from a product family.

Documented before dispatch
Measurements, photographs and sound observations are prepared for each documented instrument and supplied with it.
The sound experience
Diameter suggests. The finished instrument answers.
Size influences weight, depth and physical presence, but handmade instruments do not emerge as identical copies. Each develops its own balance of fundamental response, overtones, sustain and playing sensitivity.
Strike response
The initial attack, immediate tonal centre, and the way overtones emerge after impact.
Rim response
The ease with which the instrument begins to sing, and the stability of its continuing vibration.
Recordings of available instruments can be shared during exact-piece selection.
Signature craftsmanship
Formed by fire, hammer and ear.
Bell metal — a copper-and-tin alloy — is hard, bright and unforgiving to work. It must be shaped within a narrow band of heat, which is why the craft stays in experienced hands. The visible marks and slight variations of a finished surface are evidence of that process, not defects to be concealed.

No two hand-forged instruments are perfectly identical. For documented professional instruments, the ANURAVA Sound Passport records the individual piece — its identity, physical profile, what was measured, and the media made from that exact instrument.
Values are recorded from the individual instrument. Fields that were not measured are left blank rather than estimated.
